Arqueros Benavente classifies three archers for nationals

Three archers from C.D. Arqueros Benavente have cleared the qualification threshold for the Spanish Indoor Archery Championship during the opening round of the regional unified indoor ranking, local sports reports show. Competing at the Ciudad Sports Complex in Valladolid, the club’s traditional archery competitors hit the required scores on their first opportunity of the season.

Valladolid Opener Sets Early Standard

Four athletes traveled from Benavente to contest the discipline in Valladolid at an event organized by the Archery Federation of Castile and León alongside Arco Club Valladolid. They joined 75 other competitors from across the region on the tournament line. While the club secured three spots for the national tournament, entrants must still appear at three total ranking events to validate their entry. Sara Herrero led the regional contingent by claiming first place in the women’s traditional division with 467 points, building a wide margin over second-place Rosa María Berjano of Arqueros de Navaluenga, who finished with 341 points. Local shooter María Díez followed in third with 312 points.

Men’s Division Standings and Regional Scores

In the men’s traditional category, José Ángel Ferrero led the Benavente squad by finishing 12th overall with 387 points. Teammate Juan Carlos Herrero placed 13th with 384 points, while Ángel Rodríguez finished 20th with 313 points. Francisco Pedro Herrero of Arqueros Abulenses topped the men’s leaderboard with 512 points, followed by José María González of Arquero del Sol with 487 points and Manuel Gago of El Bierzo with 478 points. Meanwhile, neighboring clubs saw strong performances in recurvo divisions, where Jara María Bartolomé of Arqueros Zamoranos topped the women’s under-21 bracket with 514 points.
