More than 30 archers gathered at the Lienzo Charro de Cuernavaca to compete in the second State Silhouette Archery Championship, officially launching the 2026–2027 competitive season in Morelos, Diario de Morelos reported. The field included athletes of various ages spread across five distinct categories, ranging from beginners to advanced competitors, testing their skills in both recurve and compound bow disciplines.
During the tournament, participants completed three separate courses across seven distinct stations designed to challenge their precision, concentration, and technical execution. Beyond the competitive aspect, the silhouette format served a secondary educational purpose by promoting awareness around wildlife conservation and the protection of natural habitats among attendees and competitors alike, according to local coverage.
Podium Finishes Across Five Competitive Divisions
Competition was fierce across the five tiered divisions, which separated athletes by both experience and equipment style. In the beginner category, Adriana Salgado, Patricia Carrasco, and Hannah Escalona claimed the top three spots with strong performances on the shooting range. Moving into the intermediate recurve division, José Sotelo, Arturo Urban, and Jorge Alberto Escalona separated themselves from the rest of the field to secure podium finishes.

The intermediate compound division saw Miguel Ángel Márquez, Alexander Mendoza, and Juan Carlos Gil take the leading positions. In the high-demand advanced brackets, David Méndez, Bruno Altamirano, and Isaac Pastrana finished at the top of the advanced recurve standings. Meanwhile, Galo Valenzuela, Job Nicolás García, and Luis Castañeda captured the leading honors in the advanced compound division.
Institutional Support and Talent Development in Morelos
The staging of the championship received logistical backing from the Instituto del Deporte y Cultura Física del Estado de Morelos (Indem), led by Juan Felipe Domínguez Robles. Regional reporting noted that this institutional support aligns with the state administration’s broader push to expand athletic opportunities for local competitors. The event serves as an early barometer for athletes building toward upcoming state, national, and international tournaments.

Day-to-day training and athlete development remain anchored by the Academia de Tiro con Arco de Morelos, directed by Martha Ortiz and Lot Méndez. The academy operates ongoing programs designed to cultivate novice talent and prepare seasoned competitors for higher-level regional and national circuits representing the state of Morelos.
Remaining Questions Regarding the 2026-2027 Calendar
While the state silhouette championship successfully inaugurated the regional calendar at the Cuernavaca venue, athletes will continue their preparation with upcoming state, national, and international commitments.
