Olympian archer Andrés Gallardo secured two bronze medals and a third-place individual finish at the South American Games in Argentina, continuing a competitive run that included representing Chile at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Training at Estadio Carlos Dittborn for Los Ángeles 2028
Following his performance in Argentina, Gallardo is currently training in daily double sessions at the Estadio Carlos Dittborn in Arica. The Municipality of Arica facilitates access to the venue’s facilities to support the athlete’s high-performance routine.
“I want to thank the Municipality of Arica for the space I have to train; without the space that was granted to me, I would not have been able to prepare for these games and obtain the results that I obtained,” Gallardo said.
Arica Mayor Orlando Vargas highlighted the archer’s international standing and future competition goals. “For Arica, it is a pride to have an elite athlete like Andrés. For this reason, as a municipality, we will continue supporting him in each of the challenges he has to face in representation of our country,” Vargas stated.
The latest international medals add to a sporting resume that features competition at the highest global level. Gallardo previously competed for Chile at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, establishing a baseline of international experience that guides his current training cycle.
Upcoming Archery Final in Santiago
Before turning full attention to the 2028 Olympic cycle, Gallardo faces a competition before the end of the year. In December 2026, the archer is scheduled to participate in the grand archery final taking place in Santiago.
The Santiago tournament provides another opportunity to compete under national and regional representation following the international events in Argentina. Each upcoming tournament serves as a checkpoint in a multi-year preparation schedule designed to keep the athlete competitive at elite levels leading toward Los Ángeles 2028.
