Ninety-seven archers gathered at the foot of Mont Saint-Martin in Cap d’Agde on Sunday, October 11, for the inaugural autumn nature archery competition. The event, co-organized by the Archers Agathois and Archers Viassois, drew participants from across the department and beyond for a day of outdoor competition, according to the local publication L’Agathois.
Mont Saint-Martin course conditions
The competition utilized a specialized course laid out around the natural terrain of Mont Saint-Martin. Participants competed under clear skies, with organizers noting that the environmental conditions were optimal for the nature-style archery format. The event marked the first time the two local clubs collaborated to host a dedicated autumn tournament at this specific venue.
Podium finishes for Agde archers
Local competitors from the Archers Agathois secured several top-three placements across various categories. Christel Puig claimed first place in the Senior 3 barebow category, while Louane Peyre finished first in the U15 free bow division. Other notable results for the Agde club included second-place finishes for Bruno Benit (Senior 3 longbow), Élodie Peyre (Senior 2 free bow), and Laurent Zdyb (men’s category). Séverine Fernandez rounded out the podiums for the hosts with a third-place finish in the Senior 2 barebow competition.
Club and volunteer coordination
The success of the competition relied on the participation of local volunteers who managed the course preparation and daily operations. In a statement following the event, both the Archers Agathois and Archers Viassois recognized the efforts of these individuals in ensuring the tournament proceeded without logistical issues. In addition to the medalists, other club representatives including Thierry Bourrie, Jean-Louis Fauré, François Pujo, and Éric Bénard participated in the day’s events.
