Adriana Piknová claims European junior trap gold for Slovakia

Slovakia captured five medals at the European Shotgun Championships in Malakasa, Greece, highlighted by a gold and bronze finish in the junior women’s trap solo event, Športky.sk reported. Adriana Piknová claimed the gold medal, while teammate Kristína Hobothová secured the bronze.

Gold and Bronze in Junior Women’s Trap Solo

Piknová earned the continental title by defeating Turkey’s Nisa Nur Aydemir 6–4 in the final match, completing an undefeated run through the knockout rounds. Hobothová reached the semifinal stage before falling to the same Turkish opponent, sending her to the bronze-medal match. The podium finish came just days after Hobothová placed seventh in the junior women’s trap qualification round on Saturday.

The victories add to a productive week for Slovak shooters at the Malakasa shooting ranges, where the delegation amassed five medals across individual and team disciplines.

Medal Success Across Trap and Skeet Disciplines

Alongside the junior women’s trap solo podium finishes, Slovak athletes secured three silver medals in team and mixed events. Monika Štibravá, Danka Hrbeková, and Miroslava Hocková combined to take silver in the skeet trio competition. In the individual trap event, veteran shooter Erik Varga finished with a silver medal. Varga added a second silver in the mixed trap competition, partnering with Olympic champion Zuzana Rehák Štefečeková.

The European championships featured both traditional formats and newly integrated team categories. The duo and trio disciplines represent a departure from standard skeet and trap competitions, utilizing a head-to-head play-off format that alters the tactical approach for competing federations.
