The abrupt withdrawal prevents the young prospect from participating in a rigorous 11-day stretch featuring four competitive matches.
Butez steps into the setup just as the squad gathers at Clairefontaine on Monday afternoon. The veteran goalkeeper’s arrival rounds out a three-man goalkeeping contingent that includes established starter Mike Maignan and Toulouse youngster Guillaume Restes, another recent newcomer experiencing his initial senior selection.

Butez’s maiden call-up rewards a career path that took him across European borders before landing in Italy. Formed at LOSC Lille, the French goalkeeper spent several seasons in Belgium sharpening his craft before securing a transfer to Italian club Como in January 2025.
