Utebo Hosts European Week of Sport Events and Charity Race

Utebo is hosting the European Week of Sport through September 30, featuring more than 20 physical activity events coordinated by the local Ayuntamiento de Utebo via its sports department, alongside schools, local clubs, and private businesses. The multi-day initiative combines health lectures, open-door club sessions, and popular sporting events across the municipality, culminating in a busy weekend anchored by the V Feria del Deporte de Utebo and the “Invicta, I Memorial Eva López Sanz” charity race.

A Packed Municipal Agenda for All Ages

The sports program kicked off with activities geared toward residents over 65, including strength circuits and table tennis, alongside introductory Nordic walking courses and health-focused talks such as a pelvic floor care session led by Fisioterapia Utebo. Local schools have integrated the European Day of School Sport into their routines, hosting events like the “A+D Challenge” at IES Pedro Cerrada in partnership with Nutritívate, while other institutions run fencing and mini-tennis workshops. Competitive action also features on the calendar with the Aragón BMX Cup race at the municipal circuit, while private facilities including DS Gimnasios and Pádel House offer free reservation-based classes.

V Feria del Deporte Brings Clubs to the Streets

Sunday, September 27 marks a focal point of the week as the Plaza de la Constitución and Parque Santa Ana host the V Feria del Deporte de Utebo from 11:00 to 14:00 local time. The open-air exhibition connects residents with local sports clubs and organizations through informational booths and live demonstrations covering table tennis, kajukembo, fencing, chess, datchball, boxing, skating, tennis, padel, judo, volleyball, and water volleyball. Attendees can check their metabolic age at a dedicated tent, while the central stage features fitness masterclasses and a Round Robin chess tournament.

Charity Race Honors Late Triathlete

The sporting showcase carries a strong emotional and charitable component on Sunday with the “Invicta, I Memorial Eva López Sanz” race, organized by the Club Octavus Triatlón. The event honors Eva López Sanz, a recently deceased member of the club, offering 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer running categories as well as a 5-kilometer walk through the orchards of Utebo. All registration proceeds go directly to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), with Artros Fisioterapia providing complimentary physical therapy services for participants throughout the event.

Utebo FC Closes Out the Weekend

The packed Sunday schedule concludes on the pitch at the Campo de Fútbol de Santa Ana, where Utebo FC faces Reus FC in a Segunda Federación league fixture starting at 18:00 local time. Municipal sports councillor María Ángeles Larraz emphasized the broader value of the initiative for the community. “Sport in Utebo is not just an alternative leisure option, but a transversal motor of physical and mental health, as well as an unmatched tool of social cohesion and integration for all stages of life, from the youngest to our elders,” Larraz said.
