For the German duo, the win puts their first shared Grand-Slam title within immediate reach. Two years ago, the 34-year-old Krawietz and the 38-year-old Pütz fell short in the New York title match against Australia’s Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson. This time around, they advanced through the tournament’s latter stages without dropping a single service game against Ram and Salisbury, closing out the semifinal victory in just one hour and 18 minutes at the Louis Armstrong Stadium.
The Road to the New York Final
To secure their spot in the championship match, Krawietz and Pütz navigated a grueling three-set battle in the previous rounds. Krawietz brings significant major-tournament experience to the partnership, having previously captured two French Open men’s doubles titles alongside former partner Andreas Mies. Pütz also holds a major title on his resume, having won the 2023 French Open mixed doubles crown partnering Japan’s Miyu Kato. Together, the Coburg native Krawietz and Frankfurt native Pütz collected their biggest shared victory to date at the ATP Finals 2024.
