UCAS Faculty Badminton Event Promotes Fitness and Sportsmanship

National Fitness Day

The competition drew faculty and staff from across various departments, designed specifically to promote campus health and community engagement at the Yanqihu Campus.

Organized by the UCAS Trade Union and hosted by the Faculty Badminton Association and the Yanqihu Campus Management Office, the event serves as a central fixture of the institution’s ongoing fitness initiatives. Chunnan Li, director of the Trade Union and Faculty Representative Assembly Office, presided over both the opening and closing ceremonies.

The Theme of Scientific Companion

Operating under the core theme of "National Fitness, Scientific Companion, Badminton Joy," the tournament framed athletic competition around physiological health and workplace collaboration.

University leadership views the badminton tournament as a cornerstone of faculty welfare and campus culture at UCAS. By integrating structured athletic events into the academic calendar, the institution aims to encourage regular physical conditioning among staff members.

Cooperative Lineups and Scheduling

The mixed team format required participating departments to field cooperative lineups. This structure paired male and female faculty members across various doubles and singles rotations, maximizing participation while testing squad depth across different skill levels.

Officials from the Faculty Badminton Association coordinated the tournament schedule to accommodate teaching and research timetables. This ensured minimal disruption to university operations while maintaining a competitive atmosphere.

Yanqihu Campus Facilities Draw Crowds

The Yanqihu Campus facilities provided the primary venue for the matches. Spectator groups consisting of colleagues and students turned out in force to support their departmental representatives throughout the tournament fixtures.

Following the conclusion of the mixed team tournament, the UCAS Trade Union announced plans to review participation data. Organizers will gather feedback from department representatives to refine subsequent athletic programming.

Future Fitness Initiatives Rolled Out

Future fitness initiatives under the National Fitness Day umbrella are scheduled to roll out across campus throughout the academic year.

Faculty members seeking official results, departmental standings, and photo galleries from the event can consult internal notices distributed through the UCAS Trade Union portal.
