The overnight and morning strikes resulted in the deaths of two residents within the Moscow province. According to statements released by regional governor Andrei Vorobyov, a 44-year-old woman was killed when a drone impacted a residential building, an incident that also left five other people injured, including two minors. In a separate location within the region, an elderly man died after a projectile struck his home.

Emergency services responded to multiple structural fires sparked by falling debris and direct impacts across several residential districts. The offensive coincided with the opening weekend of Russia’s legislative elections, marking the first parliamentary vote held since the large-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The scale of the aerial assault triggered heavy responses from Russian air defense units. Governor Andrei Vorobyov reported that defense forces intercepted and downed 249 drones across 17 distinct districts surrounding the capital. Meanwhile, figures cited by the Russian state news agency TASS placed the total number of intercepted and detected aircraft significantly higher, at 338 units.

The aerial activity forced immediate operational adjustments at regional aviation hubs. Authorities confirmed that more than 30 incoming flights were diverted or prevented from landing at two of Moscow’s primary airports due to temporary airspace restrictions put in place during the security response. Additional ground reports noted a localized fire at a refinery near the capital following the barrage.
