Río Grande hosted the decisive provincial finals of the 2026 Fueguino Sports Games (Juegos Deportivos Fueguinos 2026) for archery, bringing together youth competitors from across Tierra del Fuego at the Anexo del Microestadio de Río Grande. Organized by the provincial Sports Secretariat under the Ministry of Citizen Welfare and Justice, the tournament established regional champions in the U14 Recurvo divisions.
The competition featured athletes who advanced through local qualifying rounds in Ushuaia alongside competitors from Río Grande who gained direct entry into the provincial showcase. Secretary of Sports initiatives continue to utilize these multi-sport events to foster athletic development and establish structured competitive pathways for youth athletes throughout the province.
U14 Recurvo Masculino Division
In the U14 Recurvo Masculino category, Ignacio Mengarelli secured the gold medal representing the Agrupación Fueguina de Tiro con Arco (AFTA) with a winning score of 514 points. Fausto Román García Vargas, competing for Arqueros del Martial, claimed the silver medal after posting 446 points.
The matchup highlighted the competitive depth within the regional clubs, as both medalists advanced through the provincial bracket to reach the podium at the Río Grande venue.
U14 Recurvo Femenino Division
The U14 Recurvo Femenino final concluded with Pía Elizabeth Díaz Torres of Arqueros del Martial capturing the provincial championship title with a score of 417 points. Belida Josefina Romero Zorat, representing AFTA, earned the silver medal with a total of 357 points.
The event reinforced the ongoing collaboration between Tierra del Fuego’s sporting organizations and the provincial government to support grassroots youth programs in specialized disciplines like archery.
