SLO Judo Resumes Training with 30 Young Judokas for New Season

Tatami mats across the region are welcoming back athletes as SLO judo officially resumes its training sessions for the new sports season.

Youth Training Categories Drive Early Season Turnout

The autumn restart brought an immediate surge of participation among local children, with thirty young judokas showing up for structured instruction on the mats.

Tuesday sessions run from 17:30 to 18:30 local time for the “éveil judo” category, which encompasses children born between 2021 and 2023. These youngest participants focus primarily on foundational motor skills and spatial awareness through playful movement exercises. Immediately following from 18:30 to 19:30, the “mini-poussins”—born in 2019 and 2020—step onto the tatamis to begin direct discovery and learning of core judo techniques.

Experienced Coaching Staff Takes Charge

Instruction for the youth categories is managed by a qualified tandem. Justine Furier, a 1st Dan black belt holding a professional qualification certificate in judo (CQP), directs the sessions alongside Zoé Salvadori, a state-certified assistant professor holding a certificate of assistant professor (CAP) who supports the coaching delivery.

Meanwhile, the broader club structure extends well beyond the youngest cohorts. Adolescent and adult members train on Wednesday evenings from 19:00 to 20:45, as well as Friday evenings from 19:15 to 21:00. These older sections operate under the direction of Francis Clerget, a veteran 7th Dan judo professor who serves as the club’s new technical director.

Registration and Trial Opportunities Open

SLO judo continues to welcome participants across all age sections, with club registrations remaining open. To lower barriers for newcomers, the organization provides structured initiation opportunities, offering two free trial sessions alongside judogis made available for prospective members.

Anyone seeking further information regarding class schedules, documentation, or trial sessions can contact the club directly via phone at 07.86.07.14.15 or 06.88.50.59.85.
