FIGC Approves Lega Calcio Request Across Divisions
The adjustment to the winter transfer market dates comes following a formal request from the Lega Calcio Serie A, which was subsequently approved by the Consiglio Federale of the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC). The change applies across the professional divisions, with Lega B and Lega Pro joining the initiative to shift the opening day forward.
February 1 Deadline Fixed Despite Earlier Start
While the opening bell for winter deals sounds earlier, the deadline for all transactions remains locked in place. The winter trading period concludes on Monday, February 1, maintaining its traditional duration while giving clubs a three-day head start on negotiations at the turn of the year.
Final Administrative Hurdle Awaits FIFA Clearance
Implementation of the new calendar is still subject to one final administrative checkpoint. The FIGC must receive formal approval from FIFA before the adjusted opening date becomes officially binding for all participating clubs.
