The archery section of the MJC in Quintin marked its 25th anniversary over the weekend with a celebratory gathering held at the base of the town’s historic castle walls. Archery clubs from across the region traveled to Côtes-d’Armor to participate in the milestone event, featuring friendly team competitions and public demonstrations under clear skies.

To celebrate a quarter-century of operation, the Quintin archery organizers invited neighboring clubs from Ploeuc-sur-Lié, Saint-Quay-Portrieux, and the Archers du Trieux for a day of friendly competition.
Archers spanning all age brackets and utilizing diverse disciplines competed in teams throughout the morning, fostering a collaborative and relaxed atmosphere beneath the medieval fortifications.
When the scoring concluded, the visiting contingent from Saint-Quay-Portrieux captured the official 25th-anniversary trophy, besting the rival regional squads in the team standings. The gathering brought together seasoned competitors and developing youth archers alike, highlighting the broad demographic reach of the sport in the local community.
Public Outreach Highlights Longbows and Compound Gear
As the afternoon session began, the focus shifted from competitive shooting to public education and outreach. Nearly a hundred visitors turned out under bright sunshine to watch demonstrations that illustrated the full technical range of modern and traditional archery.
Attendees observed practitioners handling traditional equipment, including longbows and hunting bows, alongside high-tech modern gear such as compound bows, recurve classical bows, and barebow setups. Demonstrators showcased their accuracy by shooting at nature targets as well as three-dimensional and two-dimensional animal targets set up near the castle grounds.
Leadership Eyes Permanent Fixture on Local Calendar
The strong turnout and enthusiastic public reception have encouraged club leadership to establish the festival as a permanent fixture on the local sports calendar.
Gwen Péron, vice-president of the Quintin association, noted the positive momentum generated by the weekend’s festivities. « Un joli succès qui nous conforte dans l’idée de pérenniser cet événement en rendez-vous annuel », stated Péron, pointing to the desire to make the anniversary celebration a yearly gathering.
