Philadelphia Eagles Sign Dameon Pierce and Jaydon Blue to Practice Squad

Following the NFL roster cutdown deadline on August 31, 2026, the Philadelphia Eagles shaped their 16-man practice squad by adding running back Dameon Pierce, tackle Kiran Amegadjie, and running back Jaydon Blue. General Manager Howie Roseman missed out on waiver claims while losing four players to other teams.

Howie Roseman Moves on Practice Squad After Quiet Waiver Wire

The Philadelphia Eagles reached the league-mandated 53-player limit following the final roster cuts deadline, but general manager Howie Roseman kept working to shape the team’s developmental roster. Teams had until Sunday at 6:00 PM Eastern to make their roster cuts. At 1:00 PM on Monday, August 31, any claims for players on the waiver wire will be revealed. The Eagles are No. 23 in the claiming order, so there’s quite a few teams that would have to pass on anyone Roseman might be interested in. The Philadelphia Eagles and General Manager Howie Roseman were not expected to be quiet following the Eagles’ 53-man roster cutdowns, but they were unable to add any players via the waiver wire.

Four Eagles waived on Aug. 30 were claimed on Aug. 31. They are T Cameron Williams (Atlanta), T Myles Hinton (Cincinnati), S Kapena Gushiken (Indianapolis) and TE Cameron Latu (New England). All four players are on those teams’ 53-man roster. The Eagles are losing TE Stone Smartt to the Patriots’ practice squad, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Dameon Pierce, Kiran Amegadjie, and Jaydon Blue Highlight Additions

Dameon Pierce was battling for a spot on the opening roster, but in the end the team opted to choose Will Shipley as the RB3. Pierce returns to the practice squad as a likely candidate to be elevated early in the NFL season. Pierce has 1,684 rushing yards in his four seasons in the NFL. The former fourth-round pick has spent time with the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs. He will be entering his age-26 season.

The Eagles are signing tackle Kiran Amedgadjie to the practice squad, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported. Amedgadjie was the Bears’ third-round draft pick in the 2024 draft out of Yale. Amedgadjie played in 6 games as a rookie, with one start. He was on injured reserve for most of last season. The Bears waived Amegadjie as part of their final roster cuts on Sunday. Fowler reported the Bears explored trade possibilities for Amegadjie prior to the roster cutdown deadline. Ultimately, no trade materialized. Amegadjie was selected by the Bears in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Yale. Billed as a developmental pick, Amegadjie was inactive much of his rookie season but made one start late in the year on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings. His debut didn’t go as planned, and Amegadjie never made another start. Last season, Amegadjie battled for one of the final roster spots, and though he made the team, he didn’t play a snap all year long while battling injuries. He was in the left tackle mix entering training camp along with Braxton Jones, Theo Benedet, and Jedrick Wills but wasn’t able to capitalize on the opportunity.

The Eagles are signing former Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue, according to Adam Schefter.

International Pathway Program Decisions and Defensive Tackles

Defensive tackle Uar Bernard, whom the Eagles signed through the International Player Pathways program, is expected to sign to the Eagles’ practice squad, according to a report from NBC Sports Philly’s Ryan Fowler. Bernard, who’s from Nigeria was drafted in the seventh round. He had never played organized football until signing with the Eagles. Uar Bernard was snuck through waivers and has officially been signed back to the Eagles’ practice squad. This was one of the bigger storylines heading into today’s waiver wire transactions. Bernard was a seventh-round pick this past April and has been working with the staff to try and make this switch to football work. Vic Fangio has noted that he is still very, very far away. Having him back on the practice squad should be a very large sigh of relief for the Eagles.

Jeremy Fowler reported that DT Gabe Hall is signing onto the Eagles’ practice squad. Both players were cut on Aug. 30.

Safety Andre’ Sam cleared waivers which means he reverts back to the Eagles injured reserve list and will miss the 2026 season. Andre Sam has been on a similar path each of the last few seasons.
