Regional leadership hosted the official celebration ceremony for Pallacanestro Olimpia Milano inside Palazzo Pirelli. Regional president Attilio Fontana and regional council president Federico Romani presented awards to Olimpia general manager Christos Stavropoulos, coach Giuseppe Poeta, and team captain Giampaolo Ricci.
The milestone follows Olimpia Milano capturing its first domestic treble in club history on June 18, 2026. The squad secured the 32nd league championship by defeating Reyer Venezia in Game 4, adding to their earlier triumphs in the Italian Cup and Supercup. Historical records show Milano stands as the first Lombardy team and the fourth club in Italian basketball history to sweep all three domestic trophies in a single season, joining Treviso Basket from the 2002/03 campaign, Siena from 2008 to 2011, and Sassari in 2014/15.
During the ceremony, regional president Attilio Fontana praised the squad for turning their season around after early struggles. Fontana commended the team for overcoming adversity and displaying strong character on the floor. He also dedicated a moment to honor Gianfranco Pieri, a prominent historical figure in Olimpia and Italian basketball history who passed away recently, noting that honoring his legacy means maintaining the high standard of the club’s colors.
