According to data published by the American consulting firm Sports Value, the NBA reached a historic milestone of approximately $14,3 billion in revenue, marking a 14% increase from the previous season.
The financial shift places professional basketball directly behind the National Football League, which continues to lead the global sports market with revenues of roughly $23 billion, equivalent to about 20 billion euros. Meanwhile, MLB recorded a slower growth trajectory, generating $11,8 billion and slipping behind the surging basketball property in the valuation rankings.
Broadcasting Deals Fuel Basketball’s Rise
The primary catalyst behind the NBA’s financial expansion is its sweeping media rights agreement. The league secured an 11-year broadcast partnership worth $76 billion in total revenue, partnering with major networks and streaming platforms including Disney, NBCUniversal, and Amazon.
While American sports leagues dominate the top tiers of global revenue generation, European football competitions sit just outside the immediate podium.
