Selection Trials at the Contesa del Castello di Sant’Angelo
The competition served as a crucial qualifying round for the Italian national squad governed by FIDASC, focusing specifically on historical hunting archery. Competing as part of the FIDASC Mediochienti team, Fagiani navigated the selection rounds to top her division. Her victory in the historical free women’s category guaranteed her selection for the international tournament in Hungary, where individual and team titles will be contested.
Reflecting on her selection, Fagiani noted that the milestone marks a major turning point after a decade and a half of dedication to the sport. “I could only dream one day of being able to reach the world championships, and now this dream has come true.”
The Rigorous Path to International Competition
Earning a spot on the national roster requires continuous preparation alongside professional responsibilities. Fagiani pointed to the demanding schedule of weekly regional and national competitions across Italy, paired with routine training sessions that balance a demanding work schedule. “The realization of one’s goals is made of much sacrifice and determination: competitions every Sunday around Italy, constant training in addition to many hours of work,” she stated.
The competitive summer calendar continues immediately for the newly minted national team member. Fagiani is scheduled to compete in selection trials on June 28 and 29 for the FIDASC 3D national team. Those trials serve as a qualifier for the upcoming 3D championships set to take place in Slovakia from August 10 to 16.
Looking Ahead to Gyula and Slovakia
With her historic archery world championship berth secured, Fagiani turns her focus toward the international stages in Slovakia and Hungary.
