Monclova native Dafne Quintero earned a silver medal in the women’s compound division, finishing just one point shy of the gold against United States archer Alexis Ruiz. According to event results, Ruiz claimed the victory with a 145-144 score in the final match after executing a decisive close.
Quintero navigated a demanding bracket to reach the championship match. She opened her tournament with a narrow 144-143 victory over Turkey’s Hazal Burun in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, the Mexican archer outlasted Great Britain’s Ella Gibson 146-145. Gibson had previously advanced by defeating fellow Mexican competitor Andrea Maya Becerra.
The battle for gold proved tense until the final arrows. While Quintero maintained pressure throughout the match, Ruiz sealed the top spot with a flawless final sequence. Colombia’s Sara López secured the bronze medal by defeating Gibson 147-146 in the third-place playoff.
Rodrigo González de Alba Claims Bronze in Men’s Compound
In the men’s compound competition, Aguascalientes-born Rodrigo González de Alba captured the bronze medal following a hard-fought day of eliminations. González de Alba advanced past the Netherlands’ Mike Schloesser in the quarterfinals through a dramatic shoot-off after both athletes tied at 146-146, with the Mexican competitor landing a decisive 10X.
The semifinal round presented a tougher challenge as González de Alba fell 149-145 to Denmark’s Mathias Fullerton. Rebounding in the bronze medal match, the Mexican archer defeated Colombia’s Pablo Gómez 149-147 to lock down a place on the podium. Austria’s Nico Wiener ultimately claimed the gold medal in the division.
