During a recent fixture where Bordeaux’s youth side was eliminated by Angoulême, Grenet addressed the logistical challenges ahead for the regional authority. “We will be in an atypical situation with a historic club of French football that is an amateur club in Nouvelle-Aquitaine with a public and supporters of Ligue 1 to manage,” Grenet stated. “On paper, we are not calibrated for this. We are working on this subject.”

To prepare for the upcoming campaign, the Ligue de Football Nouvelle-Aquitaine organized a videoconference meeting with directors of the clubs in Régional 1 Poule B. Grenet emphasized the importance of transparency following consultations with the prefecture to ensure safety and proper organization.

“We have a duty of transparency with them after meeting the prefecture,” Grenet explained. “We must listen to the clubs, because this situation is out of the ordinary.” A primary objective for the regional governing body is ensuring that matches featuring Bordeaux do not have to be played without supporters, aiming instead to foster a welcoming atmosphere while maintaining security.

Impatience Builds Across Regional Divisions

While the regional governing body asserts that regulatory preparations are proceeding correctly, the extended uncertainty surrounding Bordeaux’s official sporting calendar has created anxiety among opposing clubs across Régional 1, Régional 2, and Régional 3. Grenet noted that future opponents are eager for definitive clarity as fixtures approach.

“Everyone is impatient to have a clear situation,” Grenet said. “I hope things will clear up quickly. We have no choice and we must adapt. The League is the organizer of regional competitions. It is our core business to accompany the clubs.”

Amid the administrative uncertainty, Grenet highlighted the dedication of Bordeaux’s young players and coaching staff who continue to represent the club under difficult circumstances. Following the defeat against Angoulême, the league president commended the squad for maintaining professionalism and enthusiasm.
