Archers from across the region gathered on Sunday, Sept. 20, for a prominent field archery competition hosted by L’Arc club along the chemin de Vignecroze. The event brought together 125 competitors representing 39 local clubs to test their precision, concentration, and course-management skills across a demanding 2.5-kilometer woodland trail winding through the local garrigue landscape.
A Challenging Garrigue Course Test
Competition throughout the day required sustained focus as participants crossed varied natural terrain and targeted stations spread across the rugged brushland. Organizers structured the course to test technical mastery at changing elevations and distances. For the youngest division competitors, course marshals shortened shooting distances to match developmental levels while maintaining the competitive nature of the regional field event.
Community Spirit and Podium Finishes
Beyond the competitive stakes on the 2.5 km course, the gathering emphasized community camaraderie. Following the conclusion of the shooting sessions, participants relaxed and traded scores over a communal meal served beneath the shelter of a large canopy tent while awaiting final tabulations. Several local archers from the host municipality secured podium finishes, boosting morale for the organizing organization. Club president Étienne Maxime praised the turnout, highlighting the group’s ongoing drive to introduce newcomers to the sport. Séverine Omiel attended the grounds as the municipal council delegate representing the mayor.
Upcoming Calendar and General Meeting
L’Arc club has already slated its next major competitive fixtures for the fall calendar. A follow-up competition is scheduled for Oct. 10 and 11 at the local sports hall situated near the tennis courts, with outdoor events returning next April. Prior to the October tournament, the club will convene its annual general assembly on Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the sports hall facility.
