Khoa Trung Kien Named Secretary General of Vietnam Badminton Federation

The Vietnam Badminton Federation has officially named Mr. Khoa Trung Kiên as its new secretary general, succeeding Mr. Lê Thanh Hà following a leadership transition adopted by the executive committee.

Leadership Transition at the Vietnam Badminton Federation

The executive committee of the Vietnam Badminton Federation for its seventh term, spanning 2024 to 2029, formally entrusted the secretary general post to Mr. Khoa Trung Kiên on Sept. 25, according to information reported by Lao Động.

Prior to the resolution, the federation’s secretary general role was held by Mr. Lê Thanh Hà, who concurrently serves as deputy head of the high-performance sports department under the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports. Mr. Hà recently assumed a new role as director of the National Youth Athletes Training Center, prompting the executive committee to adopt a formal resolution for his replacement.

New Secretary General Brings Extensive Management Experience

The incoming secretary general, Mr. Khoa Trung Kiên, currently serves as a badminton specialist within the high-performance sports department of the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports. He brings significant expertise and experience in the management of badminton to his new administrative post.

The seventh-term executive committee currently consists of 21 members.

International Targets and Youth Development Goals

Under its current mandate, the Vietnam Badminton Federation has outlined distinct performance benchmarks for international competition. Leadership aims to elevate professionalism in tournament organization while actively identifying and developing young talent to serve as a long-term development force for the sport.

On the international calendar, Vietnamese badminton has targeted qualification berths for the 2028 Olympic Games in the United States and the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal. Federation planning has already confirmed that youth badminton player Nguyễn Thị Thu Huyền is slated to receive an official quota place for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
