The Istituto Berna in Mestre has announced the launch of its primary school judo program for the 2026/27 academic year, offering students a structured introduction to the martial art starting Monday, October 5, 2026. Led by physical education teacher Roberto De Giovanni alongside judo instructor Andrea Memo from the local Judokwai gym, the initiative aims to combine physical development with educational growth through a specialized five-lesson curriculum.
Program Structure and Schedule at Istituto Berna
The judo sessions will take place directly within the gymnasium at the Istituto Berna, providing a familiar environment for the elementary students. Each participating student will complete a series of five one-hour lessons designed to teach foundational movement and discipline. To accommodate the different elementary grades, the school has established a staggered start schedule spanning the first week of October.
According to the official calendar distributed to families, classes begin on Monday, October 5, 2026, with the 5^A class. The schedule continues on Tuesday, October 6, for classes 4^A and 4^B, followed by classes 2^A and 3^A on Wednesday, October 7. The opening week concludes on Thursday, October 8, with the 1^A class taking to the mats. School administrators have specified that participating pupils must wear appropriate sports clothing on the designated days of their scheduled training.
Registration, Fees, and Administrative Deadlines
Participation in the extracurricular sports program requires a fee of €13.00 per student. Families can settle the contribution either directly through the school secretariat or via bank transfer. The administrative deadline for all payments is set for Monday, October 16, 2026.
In the official announcement sent to families, the school’s Didactic Coordinator emphasized that the initiative serves as a valuable opportunity for the holistic sporting and educational development of the children. The collaboration with the Judokwai gym in Mestre brings certified martial arts expertise directly into the school setting, blending academic physical education with specialized judo instruction under the guidance of Roberto De Giovanni and Andrea Memo.
