A GT championship race in Shanghai turned perilous this past Saturday when British driver Ollie Millroy became trapped inside his burning Ferrari following a heavy crash. He survived only after a rival competitor rushed to pull him from the wreckage.

The dramatic incident unfolded on the circuit when Millroy’s car veered off the track and erupted into a massive fire. This prompted Porsche GT3 driver Loek Hartog to halt his vehicle mid-race, grab a fire extinguisher, and extract the unconscious driver from the cockpit.
Hartog Abandons Race to Fight Inferno
The high-speed accident left Millroy’s Ferrari transformed into a blazing inferno alongside the circuit. According to reports from the scene, Hartog noticed the unfolding disaster from his cockpit and made an immediate decision to intervene.
The 23-year-old Dutch racer brought his Porsche GT3 to a sudden stop, leaped out, and secured a fire extinguisher from a nearby track marshal before approaching the burning vehicle. Despite intense heat and thick smoke, Hartog managed to pull Millroy clear of the wreckage while the British driver appeared unconscious from the impact.
Recounting the ordeal after the race, Hartog noted that the scene looked terrifying and that there were moments when he questioned whether he could get Millroy out in time.

Millroy later took to social media to express profound gratitude for his rescue, stating that he has no personal memory of the crash itself.
In a public post on Instagram, the driver credited his survival entirely to his competitor.
