A Rare Boost for Local Club Members

For the local community, the visit offered a unique window into elite preparation.

Christelle Gautier, president of the Archers Sablais, noted that hosting the two national team members served as significant recognition for the club. It provided a rare opportunity for local licensees to share the training grounds with competitors performing at the highest global tier.

Rapid Rise Through the International Ranks

Both Chardigny and Stéphane Vaudier joined the French national para-archery squad earlier this year.

They quickly transitioned into a demanding international calendar. Their season commenced with a selection for the European Championships in Rome during the spring.

That debut was followed by an appearance on the world circuit at the stage in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, held in late June and early July. Despite their relatively recent arrival in the national setup, both athletes brought established international experience to the training grounds in Les Sables-d’Olonne, where they exchanged techniques and insights with club members.

Targeting the Ahmedabad Global Circuit

The preparation in the Vendée department directly supports the duo’s transition toward the next major stop on the global calendar.

The Hyundai World Archery Para Series in Ahmedabad, India, is scheduled from September 1 to September 6. It represents the next major proving ground for the French representatives.

The competition will allow Chardigny and Vaudier to measure their progress against elite international para-archers and continue their development within the discipline. Club leadership emphasized that the visiting athletes’ presence offered a tangible source of motivation for local members, who watched the rigorous training routines required to compete at the world level.

The Archers Sablais expressed pride in supporting the national team members through facility access during their critical preparation week, wishing both athletes success as they travel to India for the opening rounds.
