FC Augsburg has officially unveiled its third kit for the 2026/27 Bundesliga season, drawing direct inspiration from the city’s rich textile heritage. Known as “Unser Drittes” (Our Third), the jersey pays homage to decades of industrial history that once earned Augsburg comparisons to the English manufacturing hub Manchester. According to club announcements, the new kit will make its on-field debut during an upcoming away fixture against SV Werder Bremen.
Honoring Augsburg’s Textile Heritage
For decades, Augsburg and the textile industry shared a deep economic and cultural bond. During the height of the sector’s prominence, more than 20,000 workers operated within roughly two dozen major international factories, alongside numerous smaller enterprises. That historical footprint left an indelible mark on the region, with the city’s designated textile district (“Textilviertel”) serving as a lasting reminder of that era. FC Augsburg’s management sought to capture this identity in the club’s alternate kit design for the 2026/27 campaign.
“For me, this kit is a special highlight because it takes up Augsburg’s textile history in a very harmonious way and interprets it modernly at the same time,” stated FCA Managing Director Michael Ströll. He added that the jersey exemplifies the club’s close connection to the city and its local identity.
Design Influences and Historic Architecture
The aesthetic details of the new kit run parallel to local architectural history. Manufactured from breathable Jacquard material, the jersey features an integrated checkerboard pattern boasting a striking high-low structure. The design pattern draws direct inspiration from the historic Weberhaus in downtown Augsburg, a landmark building that stands as a monument to the city’s long-standing weaving tradition.
The color scheme combines red, green, and white elements. Dark green trims along the collar and sleeves contrast against the primary body color. The shirt features a shaped crewneck collar finished with a single button, lending a classic touch to the modern technical fabric. The embroidered FCA club crest, the logo of apparel outfitter Mizuno, and all partner logos appear in clean white. Completing the personalized details, the rear neck area displays the club’s founding year of “1907,” while the player back displays a pre-flocked “FC Augsburg” lettering script.
A Museum Launchground and Fan Promotions
To celebrate the historical theme, the club hosted its promotional photo and video shoot at the State Textile and Industrial Museum Augsburg (tim), where historical machinery, vintage fabrics, and industrial exhibits document the city’s manufacturing past. Special fabrics were produced specifically for the photoshoot on the museum’s working looms. First-team players Fabian Rieder, Anton Kade, Noahkai Banks, and Rodrigo Ribeiro modeled the kit alongside model Débora Gomes. A promotional video clip also features Adalbert Kraus, a former textile worker who spent decades employed in the local industry.

To mark the launch, the museum announced a special collaboration: supporters who visit the tim exhibition wearing the new FCA third kit between Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 27, will receive free admission to the permanent exhibition.
Pricing and Retail Availability
The adult version of “Unser Drittes” is available in sizes S through 3XL for 89.95 euros, while children’s sizes ranging from 116 to 164 retail for 69.95 euros. Following its online launch, the jersey is stocked across physical retail locations, including the official fan shops at the WWK Arena and Maximilianstraße, a pop-up store located in the City-Galerie, and the VR Handels- und Gewerbebank branch on Annastraße.

The squad will wear the textile-inspired kit for the first time in competitive action when they travel away to face Werder Bremen.
