The junior Spanish national cycling team coach, Eleuterio Anguita Hinojosas, was expelled from the UCI Road World Championships in Montreal on Thursday after driving his team vehicle at dangerously high speeds along the official race course, according to a ruling by the commissaires’ panel.
Footage circulating on social media captured the former professional cyclist’s vehicle speeding along the Montreal course to the point of momentarily lifting off the ground, leaving spectators stunned. Organizers subsequently authenticated the footage, which prompted swift disciplinary action from race officials.
For violating regulations governing vehicle circulation during the competition, Anguita Hinojosas received a fine of 1,000 Swiss francs, equivalent to approximately 1,060 euros.

Despite the disruption involving the team’s coaching staff, the Spanish delegation celebrated a major athletic triumph on the course. Spanish rising star Benjamin Noval secured the junior road race victory, adding to his earlier gold medal in the Montreal time trial event.
Noval outpaced the rest of the junior field to claim the world title, crossing the finish line ahead of French rider Simon Defrance, who secured the silver medal, and Swedish competitor Elias Wandel, who rounded out the podium with the bronze.
