Elche Clarifies Stance on Valera’s Future
Reports from Cadena SER initially highlighted strong interest in the 24-year-old attacker from both Club Brugge and Sporting CP. Responding to the speculation, Elche president Joaquín Buitrago acknowledged the outside attention while explicitly ruling out a departure for one of the club’s key performers. “The objective of Elche is to keep a player as important as Germán Valera with us,” Buitrago stated publicly.
Buitrago expressed optimism regarding a prolonged stay for the Spanish flank player, though he stressed that the club will avoid rushing contract discussions. The leadership prefers managing negotiations discreetly behind the scenes rather than placing undue pressure on players. At the same time, Buitrago noted that Elche operates under strict budgetary limits that influence ongoing discussions.
Growing Competition and On-Field Value
For Club Brugge, securing the winger has become significantly more complex. The Belgian side views Valera as a target, but they must contend with both Sporting CP and Elche’s fierce determination to retain him.
Valera has established himself as a central figure since arriving at the club, playing a vital role in Elche’s promotion to La Liga last season. He has continued to deliver decisive contributions, including a goal in a recent victory against Espanyol. With Elche holding firm on his value and future, any swift transfer deal appears increasingly unlikely.
