On Friday, September 4, the municipality of Dronero will officially inaugurate its newly constructed basketball court within the Pra Bunet sports area, located along Provincial Road 24. Local officials plan to open the facility with a public gathering at 7:30 p.m., followed by an opening ceremony and a ribbon-cutting at 7:30 p.m. featuring the first team of Pallacanestro Saluzzo under coach Pietro Danna.
Friday Evening Launch Marks Pra Bunet Transformation
The newly surfaced playground will immediately see competitive action as Pallacanestro Saluzzo steps onto the court for an open-door training session starting at 8:00 p.m. local time. According to municipal reports, the event serves as a direct invitation for local families, sports enthusiasts, and young residents to test out the upgraded facility right away. The project is part of a broader municipal effort to breathe new life into the Pra Bunet zone, making it a vibrant hub for the community rather than just a patch of asphalt.
Funding Split and Comprehensive Site Overhaul
Municipal records show that the entire regeneration project cost 120 mila euro. Funding was split evenly, with 60 mila euro coming from regional allocations provided by the Piedmont Region and the remaining 60 mila euro drawn directly from the town’s own capital resources.
Beyond the basketball court itself, the overhaul touches several parts of the Pra Bunet sports complex. Workers upgraded the site’s lighting system, removed architectural barriers to improve accessibility, repaired boundary fencing, and constructed a new natural grass soccer field situated near the parking lot.
Orange-and-Blue Deck Meets Early Vandalism Concerns
City planners paid close attention to the basketball infrastructure by stripping away the worn-out old surface and installing a fresh playing deck splashed in vibrant orange and blue tones. Crews painted fresh lines dedicated strictly to basketball use.
Deputy Mayor and Sports Councilor Mauro Arnaudo emphasized that the administration aimed to build a recognizable, attractive space where young people can gather to play. However, local leaders also issued a public plea for civic responsibility after noting that minor acts of vandalism and unpleasant incidents occurred even before the official opening ceremony.
Free Access and Long-Term Community Vision
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony and the Pallacanestro Saluzzo training session, the Pra Bunet basketball court will remain open to the public for free community use.
Municipal authorities intend for the site to anchor ongoing recreational programs in the area, following previous upgrades made to the local middle school gymnasium. Officials encourage residents attending the Friday evening launch to treat the space with care so that the newly invested facilities serve local athletes for years to come.
