Dennis Schröder is preparing for his 14th NBA season and his 12th team, joining the Charlotte Hornets for the upcoming campaign.
Roster Dynamics and German Connection in Charlotte
Schröder enters the new season with a familiar support system in the front office and coaching staff, stating that he already knows the Hornets’ trainer and president well. On the court, the 33-year-old will be joined by two fellow Germans, Hannes Steinbach and Christian Anderson.
The composition of the Hornets’ roster is a specific point of optimism for the veteran guard. Schröder told reporters that the team possesses a “very good” collection of shooters, noting that having many shooters makes it easier for a point guard to record assists.
Youth Development and Cross-Sport Collaboration in Braunschweig
Before departing for the United States to begin NBA preseason preparations, Schröder visited Braunschweig to launch a new initiative for youth basketball. The project focuses on organizing basketball camps designed to inspire children and teenagers to take up the sport.
To build the framework for these camps, Schröder is utilizing expertise from outside the basketball world. He has partnered with Mannhard Bech, a former German national handball player who played for Bundesliga clubs THW Kiel and SG Flensburg-Handewitt. Bech brings more than 20 years of experience in operating handball camps to the project, providing the operational blueprint for Schröder’s basketball initiative.
Career Milestone: 14 Seasons and 12 Teams
The upcoming season marks a significant milestone in Schröder’s professional journey. Now in his 14th year in the NBA, he has handled a high volume of transitions, moving through 12 different organizations. Despite the frequent changes in scenery, Schröder maintains that the opportunity to compete at the highest level of professional basketball remains a privilege.
Schröder is scheduled to return to the United States shortly to begin official NBA preseason activities with the Charlotte Hornets.
