Colombia Secures Third Place at South American Games in Santa Fe

Archery Leads the Way in Santa Fe

Colombia concluded its participation in archery at the Santa Fe Games by finishing at the top of the sport’s general classification. The nation accumulated 13 medals overall, split into seven gold, four silver, and two bronze. The final day of competition concentrated a good part of those results.

In the individual recurve events, Jorge Enríquez claimed gold in the men’s bracket, while Ana María Rendón secured the women’s title. The individual compound competitions saw Pablo Gómez and Sara López take top honors. Colombia also secured victory in the mixed compound team event.

The compound division resulted in a full set of podiums for the country. Pablo Gómez led the men’s standings, followed by Sebastián Arenas with silver and Jagdeep Singh with bronze. In the women’s event, Sara López took gold, with Alejandra Usquiano and Mariana Rodríguez finishing second and third, respectively.

Track and Field Dominance and Relay Records

Building on the success in archery, Colombian athletes delivered strong performances on the athletic track. Mayra Gaviria opened the day’s victories by capturing gold in the hammer throw. The momentum carried over to the relay events, where the nation claimed three additional titles.

The men’s 4×100 meter relay team—composed of Carlos Flórez, Carlos Palacios, John Paredes, and Ronald Longa—crossed the finish line first. For Longa, the victory marked his third title of the Santa Fe Games, following earlier individual wins in the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints.

The women’s 4×100 meter squad, featuring Marleth Ospino, Angélica Gamboa, Danna Banquez, and María Maturana, secured gold while setting a new South American Games record. Later in the program, the women’s 4×400 meter relay team consisting of María Rocha, Marleth Ospino, Melany Bolaño, and Lina Licona rounded out the track events with another gold medal.

Tennis Doubles Final Sealed in Tiebreak

Colombian success extended to the tennis courts, where Juan Sebastián Gómez and Cristian Rodríguez captured the men’s doubles title. The pair defeated Argentina’s Juan Manuel La Serna and Lautaro Midón in a three-set match, recovering after dropping the first set to win 2-6, 7-6, 10-7.

With these gold-medal performances across archery, athletics, and tennis, the Colombian delegation solidified its standing in the medal table ahead of the final day of events at the Santa Fe Games.
