The emphatic win provided concrete evidence of the upward trajectory manager Stijn Leko and his squad have experienced in recent weeks. “We did really well today, especially without the ball,” striker Nicolo Tresoldi told reporters in the catacombs after the match. “Today we truly showed our intensity. If we do that, nobody in Belgium can stop us.”
Tresoldi noted that while Genk started brightly, the opening goal shifted momentum entirely in favor of the hosts. “Once we got that first goal, our confidence and intensity grew. And then we are difficult to stop here. We need to try and bring this to every match. It could have been 5-0 today.”

“That is trained for,” Mechele smiled. “Set pieces are becoming increasingly important. Jarne, the coach who works on that, will be very happy that we scored twice from his work.”
