Chelsea and Bayern Munich are monitoring Samger FC midfielder Adama Jeng after the 15-year-old stood out for Gambia’s under-17 national team at the WAFU Zone A tournament in Senegal. Standing nearly 6 feet 2 inches tall, the defensive midfielder has caught the attention of several European clubs following his role in Gambia’s regional tournament victory.
International Scrutiny and Tournament Success
Jeng’s performances during the regional under-17 competition in Senegal brought him onto the radar of elite talent spotters. Playing as a defensive midfielder despite his imposing height, he helped anchor the Gambian side throughout the bracket. The tournament culminated in a tense final against host nation Senegal, where Gambia secured the trophy following a penalty shootout victory that ended 5–3.
Recruits from several continental outfits observed the matches in person. Scouts representing AS Monaco and Union Saint-Gilloise were documented on the ground in Senegal tracking the teenager’s defensive positioning and physical stature.
European Interest Extends Across Multiple Leagues
Alongside Chelsea and Bayern Munich, a wider network of clubs is keeping tabs on the Samger FC prospect. Portuguese sides Benfica and Sporting Portugal have been linked with the youngster, alongside AS Monaco, Paris FC, and Union Saint-Gilloise. Major European outlets report that clubs view Jeng as a high-ceiling prospect for the defensive midfield role, given his combination of height and mobility at age 15.
