Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are charting aggressive autumn schedules on the ATP Tour as they look to close out the 2026 tennis season behind Alexander Zverev, according to reports from sports media outlets covering the professional circuit. Following the conclusion of the US Open, the focus across the men’s tour shifts toward the ATP Finals race in Turin and a closing stretch of indoor and Asian hard-court tournaments.
Sinner and Alcaraz Target Autumn Momentum
Alexander Zverev has claimed two Grand Slam titles this season. However, rivals Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz aim to challenge that during the final months of the calendar year. Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner are already assured of seeing Turin this November, while Carlos Alcaraz, 4th in the Race, is also well-positioned.
The two players have shared limited direct competition in 2026, meeting in just five tournaments—namely the Australian Open, Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, and Monte-Carlo.
Jannik Sinner’s Return at the China Open
Jannik Sinner was forced to miss the US Open due to a knee injury, but the Italian player is targeting a return to competitive action. Sinner plans to make his comeback, if there is no relapse, the week of September 30 at the ATP 500 event in Beijing, where he returns as the defending champion. Sinner holds a substantial points defense ahead of him through the remainder of the autumn, with 3,550 ranking points to defend before the year concludes.
Following his campaign in the Chinese capital, Sinner’s autumn blueprint includes a trip to the Masters 1000 in Shanghai during the week of October 7, followed by a trip to the ATP 500 in Vienna, which he won last year.
Carlos Alcaraz Combines Tournaments and Exhibition Play
Carlos Alcaraz suffered a quarterfinal exit at the US Open in what marked his first tournament appearance since April, and the Spanish star is resuming training. Alcaraz will take to the court at the Laver Cup in London at the end of next week before heading to Asia for the ATP 500 tournament in Tokyo.
Alcaraz will travel to Shanghai for the Masters 1000 alongside Sinner. Alcaraz has also committed to the Six Kings Slam exhibition event in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for October 21 through 24. The Spaniard enters the closing months with 1,510 ranking points to defend, fewer than Sinner’s total.
The Chase for the Rolex Paris Masters and Turin
The autumn calendar culminates with the Rolex Paris Masters at the Plenitude Arena during the week of November 2, where both Sinner and Alcaraz are expected to be present. Alexander Zverev, who enters the final stretch with 1,080 points to defend, is the man in form this season, but the return of the circuit’s top players sets up a race for dominance as the indoor hard-court swing gathers pace.
