Sydney Brown is officially a member of the Atlanta Falcons after being traded by the Philadelphia Eagles during a draft-day pick swap, marking one of several notable roster shifts for Canadian players ahead of the 2026 NFL season. The defensive back enters training camp facing a crucial developmental stretch as he plays out the final year of his rookie contract.
During his first three seasons in the league with Philadelphia, Brown winning a Super Bowl. The defensive back has accumulated 86 tackles, two interceptions—including one returned for a touchdown—and a punt recovery touchdown over his professional career. Now operating in a new defensive backfield in Atlanta, the former Philadelphia player is focused on earning a substantial role.
“I’m going to miss every part of Philly, but I think it just opens up a new opportunity for myself and I’m just kind of embracing it,” Brown said. Regarding his integration into the new franchise, he noted that he is getting acclimated and understanding where he fits within the scheme. “It’s cool seeing the culture shift there and I’m glad that I’m a part of it. It’s for them to figure out so for me it’s just perform. I fully expect to go in there and start and have a dominant role in that defence.”
Training and Community Roots in London, Ontario
The offseason routine for the Brown family frequently centers around preparation in Georgia. Sydney and his twin brother, Cincinnati Bengals starting running back Chase Brown, have spent their past three offseasons training in Atlanta. According to Chase Brown, the city provides an extensive ecosystem of trainers that benefit players looking to elevate their performance during the spring and summer months.
Despite their demanding professional schedules, the brothers returned home to London, Ontario, during the summer to host youth football camps. The recent appearance marked their second youth football session of the summer. During their visit, the London Minor Football Association surprised the twins by naming their playoff MVP trophy after the former London Minor Football Association Rams players. Sydney Brown emphasized the importance of returning to the community to support young athletes who share similar athletic beginnings.
“It’s always great to get back in the community and see the younger generation develop,” Sydney Brown said. “Just kind of be around them and kind of see where the football direction is going in London. I think it’s cool as two London athletes that were in those kids’ same shoes. It’s cool to kind of be the role model at this point and just kind of be here and show face.”
Contract Years and Roster Battles Ahead
Both Brown brothers enter the upcoming NFL campaign playing the final year of their rookie deals, placing an added emphasis on performance. While Chase Brown anchors the backfield for Cincinnati coming off a 2025 season featuring 1,016 rushing yards and six touchdowns, Sydney Brown faces a competitive environment in Atlanta’s defensive backfield.

As training camps open across the league, the Falcons coaching staff will evaluate candidates for safety and nickel corner positions. Sydney Brown’s primary objective remains clear: secure a definitive role, demonstrate versatility on defense, and establish long-term value as he enters a pivotal contract year.
