Scheduled for the May long weekend, the event will feature a total of 64 teams split evenly, with 32 programs in the boys’ division and 32 in the girls’ division. For hundreds of young competitors, the tournament provides an inaugural opportunity to represent their respective clubs on a national stage and face top-tier programs from other provinces and territories.
Rooted in the Long-Term Basketball Development Model
Rather than focusing solely on hardware, the national governing body stated that the championship experience will anchor itself around the organization’s Long-Term Basketball Development Model. Competition structures will be tailored specifically to the athletes’ current developmental stage.
Elevating Standards in Coaching, Officiating, and Safety
In addition to crowning national champions, the event will enforce strict standards across coaching, officiating, safe sport protocols, and fair play. Officials noted that the tournament will serve as a vital scouting platform to identify promising athletes and coaches capable of feeding into provincial, territorial, and national high-performance pipelines.
