BSNF 2026 Season Tips Off: Opening Night Wins for Hatillo, Caguas, and Ponce

The 2026 season of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional Femenino (BSNF) opened with strong home-court performances as the Ganaderas de Hatillo, Criollas de Caguas, and Leonas de Ponce secured victories during the inaugural weekend of competition, according to league reports.

Hatillo Defeats Defending Champions After Ring Ceremony

Before the opening tip-off, the host team received their championship rings from the 2025 title run.

Moca started the match with an early 7-0 run, but Hatillo responded to tie the score at 14 by the end of the first quarter. The visitors then seized control with a 17-0 run at the start of the second period, establishing a 35-22 lead by halftime. Dontavia Waggoner led the Ganaderas with 27 points and 14 rebotes, while Okako Adika contributed 12 points and Ciara Harris added 11.

The Explosivas struggled to mount a comeback and lost import player Shannon Coffee during the third quarter due to a knee injury that kept her sidelined for the remainder of the game. Ashley Torres paced Moca with 17 points, followed by Hillary Martínez with 10.

Caguas Dominates on the Road Against Fajardo

In another opening-weekend matchup, the Criollas de Caguas defeated the Cariduras de Fajardo 78-55 on the road, marking Fajardo’s debut following the franchise’s relocation. Caguas’ three import players combined for 66 points in the victory.

Tea Cooper led the charge for the Criollas with 24 points, eight assists, and four rebounds, while Taylor Robertson and Dre Una Edwards each chipped in 21 points. For Fajardo, Mya Hollingshed posted 15 points and 11 rebounds, Geovana Ríos contributed 13 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, and Madeline Burke finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Ponce Holds Off Juana Díaz in a Close Finish

The Leonas de Ponce secured a narrow 76-71 victory over the Monarcas de Juana Díaz at the Auditorio Juan “Pachín” Vicéns. Gabriela Gregory secured the win for Ponce by sinking a decisive three-point field goal with 21 seconds remaining on the game clock.

Gregory finished the night with 24 points. Brittany Brewer added 13 points and nine rebounds, and Mariah Pérez recorded 12 points and seven rebounds. For Juana Díaz, Tess Amundsen led all scorers with 27 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, while Janessa González scored 23 points and rookie Paola Hernández contributed 14 points in her professional debut.

Upcoming League Schedule

The BSNF regular season schedule continues on Monday night as the Cangrejeras de Santurce host the Ganaderas de Hatillo at 8:00 p.m. local time at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan. The game will be broadcast live on the official BSNF YouTube channel.
