The American rider crossed the finish line ahead of Michael Matthews and Mathieu van der Poel, stepping into the world champion’s role after Pogacar was forced to withdraw from the Montreal event due to injuries sustained at the Vuelta a España.

Pogacar, who held the title of double reigning world champion before a severe crash at the end of August in Spain, had to sit out the Montreal competition.
