The stage is set for the German Baseball League championship showdown after the Bonn Capitals and the Guggenberger Legionäre Regensburg secured their places in the final series. The best-of-five title series is scheduled to begin on September 12, bringing together the two elite programs for the crown of the Deutsche Baseball Liga.
Bonn Capitals Rally Past Paderborn with Decisive Sunday Sweeps
For the Bonn Capitals, reaching the championship round required overcoming a steep deficit against the Untouchables Paderborn. Entering Sunday’s action facing a 1–2 series disadvantage following a narrow 3–4 loss at the Ahorn Ballpark, the Bonn Capitals needed two consecutive victories to survive.
Daniel Sánchez sparked the Bonn offense in game four with a pair of solo home runs, driving balls out in both the second and fourth innings. By the sixth frame, the visitors had built a commanding 9–0 lead. Though Paderborn’s Luca Rammelmann trimmed the deficit with a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth, Bonn added an insurance run in the final frame to seal the win. On the mound, starting pitcher Markus Solbach delivered a stellar complete-game performance, allowing just four hits and three earned runs while walking none and striking out seven batters.
Shutout Victory Secures Bonn’s 3–2 Series Triumph
With little time to recover, the teams immediately returned to the field for the decisive fifth game. The contest remained tightly contested in the early going before the Capitals broke through with three runs apiece in the third and fourth innings. Erik Brenk opened the scoring surge with a solo home run, while teammate Simon Bäumer contributed a pair of doubles that drove in crucial runs. Two additional runs in the sixth inning cemented an 8–0 shutout.

The defensive effort kept Paderborn off the scoreboard entirely, sealing the 3–2 series comeback for Bonn. The result sets up a high-stakes clash against Regensburg, who took a more direct path through their respective semifinal matchup in northern Germany.
Regensburg Legionäre Fend Off Hamburg Stealers
While Bonn fought through five games, the Guggenberger Legionäre Regensburg closed out their semifinal series against the Hamburg Stealers with a 3–1 margin. Following a weather postponement on Saturday, Sunday featured a doubleheader of high-intensity play at Hamburg’s ballpark. Game three delivered late-inning drama when Regensburg trailed 2–3 heading into the final frame. Nino Sacasa Petz tied the game with an RBI single before Daniel Patrice drove in two runs with a single to give the visitors a 5–3 victory.

The combination of Regensburg’s clutch hitting and defensive resilience ultimately proved too much for the Stealers to overcome, securing the club’s passage to the championship series.
