Former England international footballer Andy Carroll has revealed in his upcoming biography that he suffered sexual assault in 2021 while sleeping in his own home, with the perpetrator subsequently serving a three-year prison sentence.
The 2021 Assault and Immediate Aftermath
The incident occurred five years ago after an acquaintance of Carroll’s then-partner stayed overnight at the player’s residence following a boxing match, as detailed in the biographical account. The assault took place while the 37-year-old striker was asleep.
Upon waking and realizing what had happened, Carroll forced the individual out of the house. When the man attempted to return to the property, Carroll confronted him and rendered him unconscious before contacting the police. In the immediate aftermath, Carroll sought comfort from his children’s nanny, weeping in her arms while alerting authorities to the crime.
Court Proceedings and Conviction
Following the police report, Carroll was required to give testimony in court. The legal proceedings resulted in the perpetrator being convicted and sentenced to three years of imprisonment.
