Amine Gouiri will play no further part in Algeria’s international window after sustaining a left thigh injury during the team’s 3-1 victory over Zambia in the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027.
Medical Assessments Confirm Left Thigh Injury
Medical examinations conducted on Saturday morning revealed a muscular injury in the forward’s left thigh, according to a statement released by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF). Gouiri had been forced off the pitch during Friday’s qualifying fixture in a match where the Fennecs secured a 3-1 win.
Following the results of the scans, medical staff determined that the former OGC Nice player requires a period of rest. The federation confirmed that the Olympique de Marseille attacker will be released from the squad on Sunday morning to return to the south of France for further evaluation and rehabilitation.
Fixture Impact and Estimated Recovery Timeline
The setback rules Gouiri out of Algeria’s upcoming qualifying fixture against Burundi, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at 15:00 local time. Reports from local media indicate that the forward is expected to face an approximate one-week absence from active training and match play as he manages the muscular issue.
