Adama Boiro has officially arrived at West Ham United, joining the London club on a loan deal through the end of the season that includes an option to make the transfer permanent. The left-back was introduced wearing his new number 18 shirt after finalizing the move from Athletic Club, where his contract runs through June 2029.
The 21-year-old defender stepped straight into the club’s media duties upon landing in the English capital, taking part in a traditional West Ham welcome video that pairs new signings with club legends and figures from the East End. As part of the introductory media rollout, Boiro visited G.
Speaking to club media on his first official day, Boiro expressed immediate enthusiasm for his new chapter in English football. “I’m very excited and happy to be here! It’s a great club and I’m looking forward to getting started in work with my new teammates,” Boiro said. He also reflected on the quiet nature of his deadline-day transition: “It was a busy day, but we handled it calmly and everything went well, which is the important thing. Now I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone and starting to contribute on the pitch.”
Chasing Promotion Back to the Premier League
West Ham suffered relegation from the top flight last term and enters the current campaign with a firm mandate to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
“I like the challenge ahead of us,” Boiro noted regarding the club’s promotion push. “West Ham is an ambitious club looking for promotion, and I believe my mentality, my desire, and my hard work will help my teammates and the club achieve it.”
Head coach Nuno Espírito Santo and head of recruitment Nils Koppen both monitored the player’s development closely prior to finalizing the agreement. In a joint assessment released by club officials, management highlighted the defensive attributes that convinced them to pull off the deal.
“He is a player we have followed very closely and we believe he will fit well into the structure of the group,” club management stated regarding the arrival. “He is a strong, athletic, and versatile defender who has progressed enormously in Spain and has established himself at a big La Liga club.
