The Tokushima Judo Federation has scheduled the 21st Tokushima Prefecture Autumn Judo Tournament for November 3, 2026. The event will take place at the Naruto Otsuka Sports Park Soyjoy Budokan, with doors opening at 9:00 a.m. and registration beginning at 9:10 a.m. The tournament aims to foster basic judo skills, support youth development, and encourage fellowship among local practitioners.
Tournament Categories and Eligibility Requirements
Competition is divided into four primary divisions: Junior High School, High School, General (including university students), and Women’s. Participation is restricted to residents of Tokushima Prefecture who are registered with the All Japan Judo Federation. A specific eligibility constraint applies to the General division, which excludes athletes who have competed in the National Sports Festival or higher-level events within the past three years. For the Women’s division, participants may range from junior high school age to adult, and mixed teams are permitted.
Competition Format and Scoring Regulations
The tournament will be conducted as a team competition, with each team consisting of three members and one optional substitute. Clubs are permitted to enter up to two teams. In cases where a team has fewer than three members, the remaining athletes must be placed in the higher-weight or “Taisho” positions. Matches will last three minutes and follow the latest international judo officiating rules. A “yusei-gachi” (win by superiority) will be awarded based on a “waza-ari,” “yuko,” or a narrow margin defined as a difference of two or more “shido” penalties. If a team match ends in a draw, a representative match will be held. Should that match also result in a draw, the outcome will be decided by a golden score period.
Registration and Administrative Procedures
The entry fee is set at 4,000 yen per team, payable in cash at the registration desk on the day of the event. Prospective participants must submit the required application form via email by Thursday, October 15, 2026, to the Tokushima Judo Federation. Tournament documentation and application forms are available for download on the official federation website. Students are required to obtain approval from their school principal to participate. On the day of the event, teams must provide a physical member roster for display purposes, measuring approximately 19cm by 11cm. The tournament organizers will conduct the bracket draw immediately following the conclusion of the registration period.
Safety and Liability Guidelines
The Tokushima Judo Federation will provide only first-aid treatment for injuries sustained during the tournament. The organization explicitly states that it assumes no liability for incidents occurring beyond initial emergency care. All participating clubs and individuals are expected to carry their own accident or injury insurance. The event, hosted at the Naruto Otsuka Sports Park Soyjoy Budokan in Naruto City, is set to proceed on the public holiday of November 3, 2026.
