When coaches Òscar Trigo and Lluc Pagès took charge of UE Quart’s Juvenil A squad in September 2021, the Catalan club established a developmental blueprint focused on multi-year squad progression rather than immediate, short-term promotion fixes.
The sporting architecture implemented by Trigo and Pagès relied on structured roster continuity. According to coaching staff accounts detailing the club’s methodology, the overarching strategy was designed to bridge the gap between second-year and third-year youth players. Rather than overhauling the squad annually, the club prioritized nurturing a core group of second-year prospects so they could mature into competitive contributors by their third and final year in the youth ranks.
“Quan dius que vols estar a dalt, l’únic objectiu real és acabar pujant,” Lluc Pagès explained regarding the initial ambitions of the technical staff. Yet, the leadership team understood that sustainable success required patience. “La fornada bona era la dels juvenils de segon año. La idea era fer-los créixer perquè, quan fossin de tercer, poguessin lluitar per pujar. Era un projecte de dos o tres anys.” This philosophy reflects UE Quart’s institutional identity, where youth blocs integrate multi-age cohorts to secure long-term sporting viability.
