The selection process for the upcoming continental tournament has officially concluded, with six Mexican para-archers securing their spots to compete for qualifying slots at the Lima 2027 Parapanamerican Games. According to the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE), the roster was finalized following a rigorous five-stage selection process held at the Centro Paralímpico Mexicano (CEPAMEX).
The selected athletes will travel to Peru for the Lima 2026 Parapanamerican Championship, scheduled to take place from October 21 to 25, 2026. There, they will vie for the necessary quota places to compete in the subsequent multi-sport games hosted in the Peruvian capital.
Leading the national delegation in the men’s recurve open (PRM) division is two-time Paralympian Samuel Efrén Molina Núñez, representing Guanajuato. Molina previously competed at both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. He will be joined in the recurve category by Hernán Darío Garza Cuéllar of Nuevo León, according to Quadratín Michoacán.
The men’s compound open (PCM) division features Quintana Roo’s Omar Echeverría Espinoza—another veteran of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games—alongside Tamaulipas competitor Gerardo Olegario Rodríguez Banda. Meanwhile, the women’s compound open (PCW) squad consists of Lya Daniela Sánchez Taboada from Quintana Roo and Liliana Montiel Orozco from Baja California.
Strategic Push for Adaptive Sport Development
Following the conclusion of the trials at CEPAMEX, Lenia Ruvalcaba Álvarez, coordinator of technical analysts for adapted sport at CONADE, emphasized the administration’s broader goals for the discipline. She noted that international representation in para-archery has historically been strong and outlined plans to elevate the sport further.

She added that officials intend to provide robust institutional backing so athletes arrive at international competitions in peak condition, describing the current roster as the start of an extensive development cycle.
Juan René Serrano, technical director of World Archery Mexico, oversaw the final stage of the trials at CEPAMEX, which marked the fifth and definitive step in narrowing down the national team. Officials have also encouraged the rostered para-archers to keep a long-term perspective in mind as they train, noting that the upcoming continental events serve as stepping stones toward the Los Ángeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
