Sevilla has signed 22-year-old Scottish striker Robbie Ure from Swedish league leaders IK Sirius for an initial fee of £5.5m. Ure completed his medical and signed a five-year contract after a standout season in Sweden, becoming only the third Scottish-born player to feature for the La Liga club in official competition.
The move brings Ure to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium on a deal that includes 6.5 million euros upfront, alongside a further 2.5 million euros (£2.1m) in add-ons. The 22-year-old forward arrives after drawing heavy interest across Europe following a prolific run in the Swedish top flight, where he scored 15 league goals to help propel Sirius to the summit of the Allsvenskan table with a commanding 12-point lead just past the midway stage of the season.
A Swift Rise Through Sweden and Europe
Ure’s career path to La Liga has been marked by steady development across multiple leagues. He originally began his club career at Rangers, where he managed a single goal across three first-team appearances, before transferring to Belgian side Anderlecht in 2023, where he made just one senior appearance.
However, his trajectory shifted after joining Sirius in March 2025. Across 50 total appearances for the Swedish club, Ure accumulated 31 goals and seven assists. In the ongoing Swedish season alone, he netted 20 goals and provided three assists across 20 matches in all competitions, establishing himself as a primary focal point in attack.
Stepping Into Rare Scottish Football History at Sevilla
By putting pen to paper on his five-year contract, Ure enters a distinct lineage in Andalusia. He becomes just the third Scottish-born player to represent Sevilla in official competition, joining a short historical list that includes Ted McMinn during the 1980s and Duncan McVean Thomson during the 1915–16 season.
To mark the transfer, the Spanish club also highlighted past figures connected to both Scotland and the institution, including former manager Jock Wallace—who led the side during the 1986–87 season—and the club’s first president, Edward Farquharson Johnston.
On the international front, Ure remains uncapped at the senior level. While he is also eligible for Ukraine, the former Scotland Under-19 international stated his preference to wait for a call-up to the Tartan Army.
