By capturing the finals MVP honor, Balkman became the oldest player in the history of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional to receive the distinction. While he previously claimed the award in 2016 while playing for the Capitanes de Arecibo, the latest accolade carries profound personal weight following a winding professional career.

Throughout the final series against Aguada, Balkman averaged 8.6 points and 5.4 rebounds. Beyond the box score, his vocal guidance during high-pressure possessions proved vital. “We didn’t have imports at the beginning of the season. Everyone said we weren’t going to make the playoffs, but we fought,” Balkman said regarding the team’s trajectory. “We kept fighting and we got to the end. Now we are here, we won a championship, and I won the MVP. That means a lot.”
