Real Betis Cool Down Pablo García Transfer to Hull City as Youth Player Stays in Squad

Real Betis has temporarily cooled negotiations regarding Pablo García’s proposed transfer to Hull City after the club rejected the English side’s latest offer, according to local reports. Despite an apparent agreement previously taking shape, the Betis academy product was named in manager Manuel Pellegrini’s matchday squad for the fixture against Real Sociedad at La Cartuja, with indications pointing toward a place on the substitutes’ bench.

The Financial Sticking Point Behind the Transfer

According to regional sports reporting from El Correo Web, the initial framework for the deal involved Hull City paying a five million euro fixed fee for a 50 percent stake in the player. The proposed structure also included an additional three million euros tied to a subsequent 20 percent tranche, alongside two million euros in performance-related bonus payments, of which one million was considered easily achievable. Under those disputed terms, Real Betis would have retained a 30 percent sell-on interest in the forward from Parque Alcosa.

Rather than being excused from team duties while negotiations continued, García trained alongside his teammates at the Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol and traveled with the squad.

Squad Status and Upcoming Fixtures

Pellegrini faces a stretched roster for the match against Real Sociedad, carrying five confirmed absences. Giovani Lo Celso remains sidelined with a hamstring issue, while Diego Conde, Aitor Ruibal, Gonzalo Petit, and youth-team player José Antonio Morante continue their respective injury rehabilitation programs away from the main group. Álvaro Valles is projected to start in goal in the absence of Conde.

Real Betis continues its domestic campaign under strict tactical scrutiny, balancing incoming recruitment—such as ongoing discussions regarding AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott—with immediate league commitments.
