Semaj Christon Touches Down in Cantù
Pallacanestro Cantù has officially secured Semaj Christon as preparations for the 2026-2027 Serie A campaign intensify. The 33-year-old playmaker arrived at the team’s training facilities to greet head coach Frank Vitucci and his new teammates, marking the formal start of his tenure with the biancoblù squad.
Standing 191 centimeters tall and weighing 86 kilograms, the Cincinnati native enters his sixth season in Serie A. His resume features previous stints with Cremona, Pistoia, Brescia, Tortona, and Udine.
Beating Out Rival Interest for the Backcourt Anchor
Christon emerged as Cantù’s primary target during the early stages of the summer transfer market. General manager Simone Giofrè successfully steered the player away from rival interest, beating out APU Udine.
Christon anchored Udine’s backcourt last season following an in-season arrival to replace Hickey. During that campaign in Friuli, he averaged 14 points and 5.3 assists per contest.
Giofrè Secures Technical Credential and Final Roster Pieces
Giofrè highlighted both the player’s technical credentials and his evident enthusiasm to wear the Cantù uniform when the deal was initially struck. With Christon now on site, the team’s roster construction nears completion.
Only final newcomer Miles is expected to join the group in the coming days.
Intensive Training and August 29 Friendly Test
Coach Vitucci’s squad is already working out at the club’s new facility, establishing initial on-court chemistry ahead of a demanding autumn schedule. The team’s first official test is slated for August 29 in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Tortona.
Supporters will get their first public look at the new roster on September 4, when Cantù faces Trento in an exhibition match hosted in Livigno. Expectations surrounding the club remain high, particularly as the organization prepares to inaugurate its brand-new arena for the upcoming season.
Tough September Opening Awaits Biancoblù
The regular-season schedule opens with a road trip to face Venezia during the weekend of September 27. Following the away opener, Cantù will return home for consecutive fixtures against Udine and Napoli.

With Christon integrated into the backcourt and the arrival of Miles pending, Cantù continues fine-tuning its preparations ahead of the August 29 friendly against Tortona.
