According to reports from Noticias Venevisión, the newly established tournament is scheduled to run from September 25 through December, providing participating athletes with four additional months of high-intensity competitive action. The competition features ten teams split evenly into two conferences, incorporating established franchises deeply rooted in local fanbases.
Verified franchises slated to participate across both divisions include Guaiqueríes de Margarita, Trotamundos de Carabobo, Spartans Distrito Capital, Piratas de La Guaira, and Brillantes del Zulia, alongside other recognized teams such as Marinos de Anzoátegui, Gaiteros del Zulia, Cocodrilos de Caracas, Pioneros del Ávila, Costaneros de Puerto Cabello, and Hidrocarburos de Caracas, as detailed by VTV and Noticias Venevisión.

The framework for the tournament was solidified during a strategic work session held at the Francisco “Morochito” Rodríguez room inside the Instituto Nacional de Deporte (IND), as reported by VTV. Key attendees included the Minister of Popular Power for Sport, Franklin Cardillo; the president of the Venezuelan Basketball Federation, Hanthony Coello; the Minister of Popular Power for Youth, Sergio Lotartaro; and delegates from the basketball clubs.
Discussions during the session focused on refining the calendar, operational methodology, and tournament format. Officials discussed naming the inaugural edition the “Copa Venezuela Renace,” with the primary objective of complementing the existing Superliga Profesional de Baloncesto schedule—which is slated for April 2027—and ensuring athletes maintain optimal physical conditioning for national team call-ups and international tournaments, according to VTV.
Roster Regulations and Youth Development
To directly benefit domestic development, tournament organizers outlined specific roster mandates. VTV reports that teams are proposed to carry up to 18 players on their rosters, with a strict requirement to include at least one player from the Under-23 category and another from the Under-21 category.
